In the spirit of building partnerships and promoting peer exchanges in the continent , the ECF-SADC member commissions together with senior members of the ECF-SADC Secretariat participated in two continental events being – a four day Continental Workshop on Strategic and Crisis Communication for Election Management Bodies in Africa held on 23-26 October 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya and a 3 day Annual Continental Forum of Election Management Bodies and the Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA) held on 1-3 November in Cotonou, Benin.
The details of the 2 activities were as follows and as per programmes attached:

- hosted by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC).
- targeted heads of communications and public relations officials of African Election Management Bodies with a view to promote cross -context experience sharing and lesson learning to enable EMBs to strengthen their communications capacity.
- Further objectives were to promote EMB commitment to undertaking effective strategic communication to help build trust in election process, to increase EMB awareness of good practice, independent analysis and available resources and to foster a peer network for on-going mutual support and to identify collective future needs and useful resources
| - organized by the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (DPAPS) of the African Union Commission in collaboration with the Association of African Electoral Authorities (AAEA).
- The Forum was convened under the theme, Strategic Communication: Building a Sustainable EMBs Stakeholder Relationship.
- targeted the senior officials of EMBs from the AU Member States and they deliberated on innovative policy matters and measures for safeguarding the management of credible, peaceful and democratic electoral processes.
- The 11th AAEA General Assembly held in Cotonou, unanimously adopted the Principles and Guidelines for EMBs on digital and Social media, as attached to the Note.
