The Electoral Commissions Forum of SADC Countries (ECF – SADC) is an independent regional organisation of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) of the SADC member States. ECF – SADC received an invitation from the electoral Commissioner, Mauritius dated 14th October, 2024 to observe the National Assembly elections of the Republic of Mauritius scheduled for 10th November, 2024. In line with its mandate of strengthening cooperation amongst Electoral Commissions in the SADC region, the ECF-SADC deployed an Observer Mission for these elections.
The ECF-SADC Election Observer Mission was led by Bishop Sipho Tembe, Deputy Chairperson of the Elections & Boundaries Commission of the Kingdom of Eswatini. The Deputy Mission Leader was Mr. Richard Chapweteka Commissioner at the Malawi Electoral Commission.
The Mission comprised twenty-three (23) observers from eight (8) Electoral Commissions of Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa and Zimbabwe. The Mission commenced its work on 6th November, 2024 and remained in the country until 14th November 2024.
