The Electoral Commissions Forum of SADC Countries (ECF — SADC) is an independent regional organisation of Election Management Bodies (EMBs) of the SADC member States. ECF — SADC received an invitation from the National Electoral Commission (CNE) of Mozambique dated 17th April 2024. In line with its mandate of strengthening cooperation amongst Electoral Commissions in the SADC region, the ECF-SADC deployed an Observer Mission for these elections.
The ECF-SADC Election Observer Mission was led by Judge of Luanda Court of Appeal, Manuel Pereira da Silva, President of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) of Angola. He was supported by Deputy Mission Leader, Mr Mphasa Mokhochane, who is Chairman of the Independent Election Commission of Lesotho.
The Mission comprised of twenty-four (24) delegates from seven (7) ECF-SADC member countries, namely electoral commissions of, Angola, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa, Zanzibar and Zimbabwe. The Election Observation Mission began on 29 September and will continue until 14 October 2024.
